Community Arts Foundation Seeking New Board Members

Walnut Creek’s Center for Community Arts in Shadelands is an active and welcoming place where adults can drop in for an evening of creative art projects, while mingling with neighbors and friends; where preschool children can have an arts focused learning experience every day; where teens can take an improv class to help build confidence. And so much more.

“Arts education enriches the lives of children, teens, adults, and seniors in countless ways — in every stage of life,” said Lisa Crossett, co-president of the Board of Directors of Walnut Creek’s Community Arts Foundation (CAF), whose motto is Arts for All.

“We’re fortunate in Walnut Creek to have such a thriving Arts and Arts Education culture, surrounded by public works of art, engaged local artisans and teaching artists, and a wide range of arts education opportunities. With Arts for All as our working mission, the Community Arts Foundation raises funds to provide county-wide scholarships and access to arts education through the City’s Center for Community Arts.”

Because of CAF’s arts advocacy, fundraising efforts, and the public’s generosity, hundreds of students of all ages who would not normally be able to participate in art classes or programs at the Center for Community Arts due to financial need have been awarded scholarships to pursue their passion in dance, music, painting, drawing, photography, jewelry making, ceramics, theater, and more.

Currently, the Community Arts Foundation is actively seeking new board members who are passionate about the future of arts and culture in Walnut Creek and who want to help ensure that arts education is available to everyone, regardless of financial background.

In addition to fundraising work, board members play a vital role in speaking up and advocating for arts awareness and accessibility throughout the county to bring creativity and inspiration to the entire community

The board meets monthly, in person, the 3rd Wednesday of the month, 6:30pm, at Walnut Creek City Hall, 1666 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek.

Meet the CAF Board of Directors and discover why each member believes in Arts for All.
