Heads Up—Major Move On Tap for Calicraft, April 1
Walnut Creek-based Calicraft Brewing Co. is expanding its influence and operations in 2025 with the addition of three new taprooms and a distillery, bringing Calicraft's total locations to four, all within the greater San Francisco Bay Area. And it all started in Shadelands, where there are major changes, renovations, and new construction plans on tap.
Established in 2012, Calicraft Brewing Co., at 2700 Mitchell Drive, across from the Ultimate Fieldhouse, has long been a popular meeting and drinking establishment, welcoming family and friends who come together to enjoy Calicraft's innovative California-inspired microbrews, ciders, and spritzers; guest food trucks; and family friendly community events.
For the past three years, founder and CEO Blaine Landberg and team have been brewing up plans to offer a greater indoor and outdoor taproom and beer garden experience.
Plans are to reimagine the brewery's current operations at the 2700 Mitchell Drive location by rebuilding the taproom from the ground up, adding a new building and production facility, expanding its beer garden, and adding a tasting room and outdoor bar. This will be accomplished in two phases.
Phase 1, beginning now, moves Calicraft’s current operations into a nearby space on the 2700 Mitchell Drive property. This will be a 6,500-SF outdoor beer garden complete with a 40-foot shipping container bar, fire pits, picnic areas, and outdoor televisions. Customers will use the parking lot at 390 North Wiget Lane, where Calicraft has offices, to access the new space. The original parking lot off Mitchell Drive will not be accessible after the transition because the original Calicraft building will be demolished and the area will be cleared and readied for new construction.
“The vibe at the new space will be the same as Calicraft’s current taproom,” said Thomas Vo, marketing director and brewmaster. “We’re family and pet friendly, community-centric, and open to all, and we’re really looking forward to sharing this new space and Calicraft experience with our customers.”
Calicraft will be fully operational in its original location while transitioning to its new space, which is scheduled to open April 1, 2025. The team expects to be closed for one day only, Monday, March 31, as they make the transition.
Phase 2, slated to be completed 2026, renovates Calicraft’s existing outdoor beer garden and taproom into a brand new 10,000-SF, two-story building featuring a newly designed and constructed brewery, winery, distillery, and restaurant — all under the Calicraft brand.
During construction, Calicraft will continue to brew its award-winning and innovative beers, as well as its line of Bloom: Untraditional Ciders. Later this year, Calicraft will launch its first spirits and ready-to-drink cocktails under its own brand name.
