Repaving & Restriping Work Completed on N. Wiget Lane
The City of Walnut Creek has completed its roadway improvements on N. Wiget Lane, which included repaving N. Wiget Lane from Ygnacio Valley Road north to Lennon Lane. In addition to repaving the entirety of N. Wiget Lane, on-street parking was created on the east side of the roadway, and dedicated protected bike lanes were created with security posts separating the bike lanes from vehicular lanes, similar to the construction on Lennon Lane. Additionally, improvements were made to the Contra Costa Canal entrance on N. Wiget Lane including a crosswalk, curb ramp, and concrete path.
The improvements, paid for by a long-held reserve of funds dedicated solely to Shadelands infrastructure and roadway enhancements, are designed to make getting around Shadelands’ busy streets safer and easier for pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers.
Next up is the installation of two new crosswalks at Shadelands Drive and N. Via Monte, and on Mitchell Drive. Look for sidewalk project details in the December issue of The Shadelands Scene.
